Do you believe in ghosts? The Ultimate Haunted Hollywood Tour is our freakiest and most popular haunted sightseeing tour in Los Angeles and honestly if nothing else will convince you, maybe this tour just might. On this tour, you will be transported from your local point of origin to the most freaky places in Los Angeles.
The tour begins as we swing by for a little visit to Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary. This cemetery and mortuary is located in the Westwood Village area of Los Angeles. The cemetery was originally established as Sunset Cemetery in 1905, but had been used for burials since the 1880s. In 1926 the name was officially changed to Westwood Memorial Park and was later changed again to Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary. Lots of different names are resting here too.
Although it is the final resting place of some of the entertainment industry’s greatest names, it also contains the graves of many uncelebrated people. For example, when Marilyn Monroe died in 1962, Joe DiMaggio, responsible for Monroe’s arrangements, chose Westwood not because of its celebrities but because it was the resting place of her mother’s friend, Grace Goddard, and Goddard’s aunt, Ana Lower, both of whom had cared for Monroe as a child. Some notable resters include Rodney Dangerfield, Carl Wilson from The Beach Boys, Dean Martin, Jack Lemon, Walter Matthau, Hugh Hefner and this list goes on and on.
Next, we drive past the The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills where there is no longer a room #434. Well, there was. Due to a huge demand for the storied room, it was retired as a place of rest for curious guests. In February of 2012, singer Whitney Houston was found dead in the bathtub of suite #434.
We will also the visit the site where one of the most gruesome, infamous and notorious murders of our time was committed on AUGUST 8th, 1969 when Charles Manson’s “Family” descended on Roman Polanski’s residence on Cielo Drive in Beverly Hills and brutally murdered 5 people including Polanski’s wife, actress Sharon Tate. While the original house no longer exists, filmmaker David Oman built his house a mere 150 feet from the site where the grisly murders took place.
Oman, who lives a couple houses down the street, is convinced that the murder victims still haunt his residence to this day. And he is not the only one. Paranormal experts and psychics from the world over have visited Oman’s residence and have dubbed it “The Mount Everest of haunted houses” and “The Disneyland for the Dead” for the amount of paranormal activity that occurs there. Oman’s house has also been featured on “Ghost Hunters,” “My Ghost Story,” “Paranormal Witness,” “Haunted History” and “Ghost Adventures” and has rated the #1 most viewed episode for each of the programs. The release of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the 50th anniversary of the murders that occurred near the home has created a huge upswing in interest in Sharon Tate and this uniquely designed house of ghosts steps away.
After a creepy drive past the Oman House and Manson murder location, we drive by the Hollywood Forever Cemetery which is both a world famous landmark cemetery in the heart of Hollywood and an important cultural event center in Los Angeles. The cemetery features outdoor classic film screenings, concerts, literature events, lectures, and also the largest Dia de Los Muertos event in the United States.
Other freaky places that are included (time permitting includes the home where Michael Jackson died in Beverly Hills, The Chateau Marmont where John Belushi died, Cedar Sinai Hospital (where the stars go to live and die), The Viper Room where River Pheonix died of a drug overdose, and more.
